Oct 4, 2023 (Reuters) – Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, announced on Wednesday the launch of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools designed to assist advertisers in creating various content elements such as image backgrounds and textual variations.

Testing Phase Success

Meta initiated the testing phase of these innovative AI tools in May, initially providing access to a select group of advertisers within a dedicated “testing playground.” Following successful testing, the tools are now being integrated into Meta’s Ads Manager and are expected to be available to all advertisers by next year.

A Step into AI Content Generation

This rollout signifies Meta’s first venture into incorporating generative AI technology into its products, enabling the generation of new content, including text, art, and software code, by leveraging extensive historical data.

Expanding AI Integration

Meta is rapidly expanding its use of AI across its platforms. Just last week, the company announced its plan to enable businesses to utilize AI for engaging with customers through messaging platforms like Messenger and WhatsApp.

Meta’s Impressive AI Portfolio

Among the notable components of Meta’s AI portfolio are “Llama 2,” its advanced language model, and Meta AI, an AI chatbot capable of generating both text responses and photorealistic images. These tools promise to enhance advertisers’ abilities to create engaging and unique content.

With the introduction of generative AI tools, Meta is taking a significant step towards empowering advertisers with sophisticated AI capabilities, further solidifying its position as a leader in the realm of AI-driven content creation.
